Cheri Schell - Schell's Shilohs

May 31, 2005 the Shiloh world lost a good soul. Cheri Schell, of Schell's Shilohs had a dream. She wanted more than anything, to prove that this breed was perfect for service dog work. Cheri loved the wonderful temperaments of the Shilohs and she wanted everyone to know and understand that training was a key element to a good dog. Cheri owned two Shiloh girls, Sugarfoot and Maui, she owned Sugarfoot's daughter Breezie and she owned a lovely young male named Hawk. Those dogs, along with all of Cheri's family and friends, are lost without her. Cheri was fighting a hard battle with cancer and was considered terminal. But I think God loved Cheri so much that He did not want her to suffer, so He took her quickly one day and now has her in Heaven, in charge of all of our Shilohs who have passed.

Schell's Dreaming of Maui Mt Selah

February 16, 1999 - April 26, 2006 Brown Sable Plush
Sire: Shenandoah-Mt Selah Magnum | Dam: Moriah Mackey's Lilly Mouse

Maui was beautiful, a dark sable with a mind of her own. She was way smarter than her owners and there were problems daily as she would outsmart each human in the household. I called Cheri to tell her about Maui. Maui was said to have 'small dog agression', but no one admitted that the next door neighbor mini Poodle would bark and growl all day at her till she snapped. She was said to be hard headed, but again, no one would admit that she was simply smarter than they were. She was said to be difficult to train, but again, no one admitted that they were not consistant with commands. The fact was, Maui probably had a larger vocabulary than her humans did.

Cheri and Maui contacted immediately. Training was Cheri's first love and Maui was the perfect candidate for Cheri.
I watched and smiled as Cheri and Maui worked together to learn about each other. By the second month, most, if not all of Maui's 'horrible' problems were solved and Cheri was the proud owner of a lovely young Shiloh girl.

When Cheri talked of breeding, she was very thorough and we talked about each and every male available. We wanted Lobo to sire a litter with Maui, but that was never to be. Sam and Devaki both had the pleasure of meeting Miss Maui and both helped her to have wonderful pups. Maui didn't care very much for the showring, but excelled when Cheri brought out the training leash and collar. Together, they were beautiful to watch. And now, they are together again.
